About Zenways
Perhaps you’ve experienced the beautiful simplicity found in the Zen arts, or read reports of the vitality and almost superhuman power exhibited by ancient samurai, trained in Zen. Perhaps you’ve heard of extraordinary East Asian individuals, like the great post-war Japanese business leaders, and medieval Chinese politicians, who have based their life work in the practice and experience of Zen. Maybe you’re aware of the overwhelming importance within Zen on experiencing your true nature, and perhaps something in you is already awakening to that in your own life. Or maybe the mysterious paradoxes used to assist awakening by the Zen masters resonate with you.
People come to Zen from many directions and from many spiritual and philosophical backgrounds. Zen doesn’t demand your faith or belief, doesn’t want to control you in any way. A true Zen teacher is simply a guide to a realm of human experience that is sublime. He’s been there and, if he’s well trained, he has many ways to help you go there too. We grow to adulthood and oftentimes stop, only vaguely realising that there is so much more a human being can become. When you feel ready to enter this wider realm of experience, you may be tested, you may find that seeming obstacles arise. It has never been easy to enter this great way, but for those who succeed arises the power to succeed in all things, to truly be of benefit to others, and to live an amazing life.
Practice in Zenways works with your body, mind and energy to create greater wellbeing, vitality and awareness, and a deep sense of your connection with all things and your true relationship with the universe.
Zenways is the organisation created by Julian Daizan Skinner Roshi to promote and encourage the activities and practices that enhance human wellbeing and awakening -satori or kensho, the enlightenment of Zen, in the many different situations we find ourselves in. Membership of Zenways is open to all Roshi’s students, allowing you to enter into a more direct connection to the teaching and to provide opportunities for you to benefit by helping others. Email daizan@london.com for more details on membership.
